Permitted Usage and Ethical Considerations

The platform and services offered by astica have the ability to empower individuals and businesses in solving complex problems and simplifying daily tasks.

With all cognitive services made available through astica, the primary focus has been to develop AI technologies in accordance with ethical principles, and we look to ensure that our solutions are employed for responsible and beneficial purposes. The following constitutes our acceptable and permitted use policy that all users of our technology must follow:

General Ethical Expectations

1. Compliance with Laws: Users must comply with all applicable local, national, and international laws and regulations while using our AI technology. This includes, but is not limited to, data protection and privacy laws, intellectual property laws, export control laws, and any other relevant regulations.

2. Respect for Others: Users must not use our AI technology to promote, facilitate or engage in any form of discrimination, harassment, defamation, or any other conduct that may cause harm to others. This includes using the technology to create, transmit or provide access to content that is offensive, abusive, or harmful to reputation.

3. Privacy and Data Protection: Users must respect the privacy of others by not using our AI technology to collect, process, or store personal data without appropriate consent, knowledge, or legal basis. This also extends to respecting user privacy settings and implementing proper security measures to protect sensitive data.

4. Intellectual Property: Users must not use our AI technology to infringe upon the intellectual property rights of others, including copyright, trademark, trade secret, or patent rights. This includes, but is not limited to, using the technology to reproduce, distribute, or display protected work without proper licensing or authorization.

5. Security: Users must not undermine the security or integrity of our AI technology or related services by attempting unauthorized access, introducing malicious software, or engaging in any form of cyber-attack. This includes probing, scanning, or testing the vulnerability of any system or network that hosts our technology. This also includes using astica technologies to interact with third party systems which you do not have appropriate permissions.

6. Prohibited Uses: Users must not use our AI technology for any illegal, unethical, or harmful purposes, such as, but not limited to, developing or deploying malicious software, engaging in cybercrime, or promoting terrorism.

7. Responsible Development: Users must uphold the principles of responsible AI development by considering the ethical implications and potential risks of using our technology. This includes considering issues related to transparency, fairness, accountability, and privacy when designing and implementing AI systems.

Please note that astica reserves the right to monitor, investigate, and take appropriate action in response to violations of this acceptable and permitted use policy, which may include suspending or terminating user access, reporting violations to law enforcement, or any other measures deemed necessary to protect the integrity of our technology and the safety of our users.

Prohibited Usage
Facial Recognition

By using our face detection API or related facial recognition services, you agree not to engage in, promote, or facilitate the following activities:

1. Use of Facial Recognition: You shall not use our services to deploy facial recognition technology, including the identification, verification, or analysis of individual faces or groups, for law enforcement purposes or any surveillance activities.

2. Biometric Data Collection and Analysis: You shall not use our services to collect, store, process, or analyze biometric data, including, but not limited to, voice prints, fingerprints, iris scans, and DNA samples, without the explicit consent of the individuals concerned.

3. Mass Surveillance: You shall not use our services for indiscriminate, unwarranted surveillance or tracking of individuals or groups without a legitimate purpose or legal basis.

4. Invasive Monitoring: You shall not use our services to monitor individuals' private lives, religious or political affiliations, sexual orientation, or other personal activities in a manner that infringes upon their fundamental rights and freedoms.

5. Discrimination and Bias: You shall not use our services to create, promote, or perpetuate discriminatory, biased, or unjust practices based on factors such as race, ethnicity, gender, age, religion, disability, or socio-economic status.

6. Invasion of Privacy: You shall not use our services to invade the privacy of individuals, unlawfully obtain personal information, or conduct unauthorized tracking or profiling.

7. Harassment and Threats: You shall not use our services to harass, threaten, or violate the legal rights of individuals or groups, including stalking, defamation, or intimidation.

By agreeing to these terms, you acknowledge that the violation of any of these prohibited uses may result in immediate termination of your account and access to our services. We reserve the right to amend these prohibitions and take appropriate action against any misuse of our services in the interest of protecting the privacy and civil liberties of individuals and maintaining the trust and safety of our users.
